A backpack, or a shoulder bag? Both. Same bag.
Most backpacks pick one job and keep it. This one carries two. Closed, it is a 2 litre crossbody for a phone, cards and keys. Opened, it is an 8 litre backpack that takes a 14 inch laptop, an A4 notebook and a light jacket. The change takes one movement and under ten seconds, so you do not repack and you do not own a second bag for the other half of the day. Water-resistant polyester, a strap adjustable to 90 cm, designed in Berlin, made in Europe.
Shoulder bag, 2L
Phone, wallet, keys. Worn across the body on a strap that adjusts up to 90 cm, so it sits where you want it.
Backpack, 8L
Laptop, notebook, a layer for later. Weight moves onto both shoulders the moment the day gets heavier.
The switch
One movement, under ten seconds, nothing comes out. Nobody believes it until they watch it happen.
Seven colours, one backpack
Same body, same volumes, same switch. The colour is the only decision.
What this backpack is for
City days, commutes and the evening they turn into. Not summits, not a week away.
Enough, not too much
A 14 inch laptop, an A4 notebook and a light jacket fit. A 30 litre trekking pack would swallow all three and still look half empty.
One movement
Crossbody on the way out, backpack on the way home. One movement each way, without putting the bag down.
One purchase
The small shoulder bag and the everyday backpack are the same object. Nothing waits unused in a cupboard.
Which type of backpack do you actually need?

Frequently asked questions
What is a hybrid backpack?
A bag that works in more than one carrying mode. This one is a 2 litre crossbody when closed and an 8 litre backpack when opened, so one purchase covers both ways of carrying.
Backpack or shoulder bag - which is better?
It depends on the load. Under about 2 litres a shoulder bag is lighter and easier to reach into. Above that, a backpack spreads the weight across both shoulders and stops one side doing all the work. A convertible bag lets you decide per trip instead of per purchase.
What size backpack do I need for everyday use?
For a city day, 8 to 20 litres. Eight is enough for a 14 inch laptop, a notebook and a jacket. Thirty litres and up is weekend and travel territory and reads bulky on a normal Tuesday.
Are backpacks still in fashion?
Yes, but the shape changed. The oversized outdoor pack moved out of daily wear and small structured backpacks moved in, usually worn with a strap short enough to sit high on the back.
Is it waterproof?
Water-resistant, not waterproof. The polyester handles drizzle and the ride from bike to door. It is not a dry bag for a full day of heavy rain.
How long does the switch take?
Under ten seconds, in one movement, without emptying the bag. It is the same fabric panel folding, not a set of parts to assemble.
One backpack that stops being one when you need a shoulder bag.
A backpack is the most practical bag anyone owns and the least flexible. It carries a laptop, a jacket and a lunch without complaint, and it keeps both hands free on a bike or a crowded train. It is also far too much bag for a Friday evening with a phone and a card in it, which is why most people own a second, smaller one and swap between them.
Enganyo built one bag for both. Closed, it is a 2 litre crossbody: phone, wallet, keys, worn across the body on a strap adjustable to 90 cm. Opened, the same panel unfolds into an 8 litre backpack that takes a 14 inch laptop, an A4 notebook, a charger, a bottle and something warm for later. The switch is one movement, under ten seconds, and nothing has to come out on the way.
Eight litres is a deliberate ceiling. It is city size, not summit size. Hiking packs start around 30 litres because they carry a tent; a daily bag that size stays half empty and sits wide on the shoulders. At 8 litres the bag holds the working day and keeps its shape while doing it.
The material is water-resistant polyester, which handles the ride from bike to front door and a walk through drizzle. The strap adjusts up to 90 cm so it still sits right over a winter coat. Free 30-day returns across the EU, rated 4.8 out of 5 by 70 reviewers.
Seven colours share the exact same body. Totally Blackout and Moss Attack for the days the bag should stay out of the way. Lilac Rebel, Acid Garden, Purple Voltage, Cold Flame and Night Rush for the days it does some of the talking.
